1. The two videos I chose to watch are "Hockney on Photography" and "Andy Warhol: Images of an Image." I chose these two videos because they seemed to interest me the most. I just picked two random videos. I have heard of Andy Warhol before, but I was never really sure on his work so I wanted to finally learn!
2. In "Hockey on Photography," I learned that photography is actually a chemical process of putting pictures onto a flat surface. It is debatable whether photography is art. I did not know this was even a question. Photography to me, has always been art. It is the eyes ability to capture an image and display it on paper. It is similar to painting.
In "Andy Warhol's" video, I learned that Andy never wanted to be an artist. He enlarged images with a projector.Images have immense power in our society. Cropped pictures to make simple images and colored them in unique ways.
3. Both videos relate to the text in that photography was discussed in the textbook and the different technological advances that have grown. The textbook also looks at Andy's work.
4. I liked to videos because they were very insightful. It was nice to learn more about Andy. In previous art classes they have mentioned his name but it was nice to actually dissect his work.

art visit number 2!!!
VISTING BURCHFIELD PENNY ART CENTER!!!
EXHIBIT: R. WILLIAM DOOLITTLE GALLERY
THE THEME OF THE EXHIBIT: water/ rivers/ islands and the beauty of them.
THE PHYSICAL SPACE:
1. The lighting in the exhibit is dark, with lights shining only of the pictures. The tone was very calm.
2. The walls were gray. I loved this. It added to the mood or tone of the exhibit and also it enhanced the bright colors that were in the framed works.
3. The materials used in the interior architecture of the space are just walls surrounding the pieces. The walls seemed layered.
4. The movement of the viewer in the gallery space is very easy. The flow of the walk seemed to be at ease, leaving viewers multiple walls to look at.
THE ARTWORK:
1. The artworks didn’t seem to be organized in any particular way. They were evenly spaced on separate walls.
2. All of these artworks used vibrant, bright colors.
3. They were different in that the artists used didn’t elements, to portray water, an island, or a river.
4. They all had different frames. The frames tended to be thin, and were not overpowering to the original piece.
5. The artwork is labeled by artist, title, medium, and paint used.
6. The proximity of the artwork to each other is that they all show and embrace the beauty of water in an elegant way.
The first artwork is John Pfahl's digital print. It is called vaporous sunshine. This picture is truly breathtaking. This artwork did not have a lot of colors, but it was calm and collective and that is what I liked about it. Looking into the artwork was peaceful. This is a picture of a lake, and the trees in the background and the sun is either just rising. It is beautiful.
The next artist is Morton Grossman. This is watercolor on paper and the title is "River Sequence." This was by far my favorite. The colors are vibrant and eye capturing. I loved how it wasn't just one picture, it was multiple. It was also placed on a wall by itself in the exhibit. This added a "wow" factor to the watercolor. This was actually made for her husband. It was truly heart-warming.
The third artist is Will Harris .This is another watercolor piece. I love watercolor! It has always been so elegant. This picture is from a lake. This is the most texture I have ever seen in a water color before and I am impressed. It is very difficult to create texture in a watercolor painting. But this artist did a remarkable job.

video review : Module Eleven
1. The two videos I chose were “The impacts of Cubism” and “Expressionism” because they seemed to appeal to me. Expressionism has always interested me and I wanted to learn more about it.
2. What I learned in the “Impacts of Cubism” was that they use a lot of abstract shapes. They focus on incorporating spiritual elements and imagination. These artworks often have a lot of balance within them; most common form is a collage.
In the movie “Expressionism,” colors are used symbolically. Use different colors to symbolize certain emotions or event. In the movie, Marc liked to use exotic colors to portray different emotions.
3. The videos relate to the reading in the text because they both discuss the movements of cubism and expressionism and provided examples of specific art and the elements used that emerged from these movements.
4. I liked the movies; they furthered my knowledge of these two very important movements.

art mask!!!!!

For the first three inspiration images, I chose them because they looked like something that I would create. The masks were very elegant, and creative, and in a way simple.
In my finished mask, I used a lot of color and texture to help create my creative work. Construction paper was my friend during this assignment!I thought it was an easy process at first, but making sure that it looked exactly like i wanted it to was a challenge. I wanted this mask to be simple, and elegant. Although I would've loved to add bling to my mask, it would not relate to my "simplistic" look.
Module ten Video Responses
1.The two videos I chose were African Art and "African Art: Legacy of Oppression" I think that African art is somewhat overlooked, it hasn't really been looked at to its full extent and that there must be so much to learn about and from it.
2. In the African Art video, I learned that people expressed themselves with anything they can grasp, such as clothing, singing, even hairstyles. They would create art out of wood, and drawings that were displayed on rocks.
In African Art: Legacy of Oppression, I learned that African art can either be abstract or realistic. Most of this artwork praised their mothers. Masks were a form of art that were made for many different occasions.
3. The films relate to the text in that they address upon African art and go into depth about different styles, or techniques. African art is always meaningful and can be spiritual at times. The text and the videos went into depth about this art that personally, I think hasn't obtained the full attention it needs.
4. I liked these films, I thought they were very interesting. These films were easier to watch than others because it was extremely educational and broadened my understanding on African Art.

Hand Drawing!
1. Using my hand as subject matter for drawing was somewhat challenging. I am right handed so using my left hand for the one was difficult!
2. The media that I used was a pencil, I chose this because a pencil adds a simply effect to the drawing. I wanted it to look simple, not overdone.
3. Creating a drawing with my non- dominant hand was a challenge! To be honest it felt weird, obviously my hand is not used to drawing but I think I overcame the challenge well.
4. This is my third draft, I still feel like I can improve but I like my final piece enough to post on this blog. I maybe would like to try drawing them with charcoal to add the "full, bold" effect to the piece.
5. I would probably use my non-dominant hand for some of my artwork in the future, I think it adds a whole other effect to the drawing. Maybe with a painting, I would try to see if it was easier to use my non-dominant hand. I would like to see how the brush strokes look.
module nine video review!
The two videos I chose are about Michael Angelo and Leonardo da Vinci because I am a fan of these artists. Their work truly amazes me.
In the movie “The drawings of Michelangelo” I learned that he was born in Florence and his father never really saw a purpose in him wanting to become an artist. He is the famous artist who sculpted the famous “Statue of David.” He actually destroyed many of his drawings because he didn’t want the world to see them.
In the movie “The Mind of the Renaissance” I learned that Leonardo was born in Tuscany. He had a true love for animals and an interest in nature and its beauty.
Both of these videos relate to the text in that they openly discuss the lives of the two artists in great detail. They both reveal some of the artwork that the artists are famous for and the elements they are famous for using within their artwork.
I liked these videos, they added to my knowledge about these two artists! They had such great knowledge and skill that furthered their career as artists!
