reflections!!!!!

1.  My expectations for this course were to study artists', their techniques used, and then apply them to our projects. My expectations for this course were met.  I have learned a lot of different artists and famous types of art.
2. Art is an expression of someone or something through a variety of ways.
3. My favorite artist was Charles Burchfield, and I must say that it still is Charles Burchfield. Although, I was able to learn about other artists too such as Michaelangelo. I liked his work, but Charles Burchfield will always be my favorite.
4.  I feel the same about online courses. I love them. I like to manage my own time on doing my work. I  would rather sit at home and work hard on my studies than drive all the way to school. I am good at making sure I get my work done on time or even in advance. I don't like to procrastinate, so online classes work well for me.

self portraits

1. I selected these inspirational pieces because they are of artists' that I admire.
2. I chose to use pencil and paper to create my self portrait because it is simple, but still elegant. I am simple, and not over the top so I didn't want my self portrait to be anything different. After all, it is a self- portrait and is supposed to portray your personality.
3. The challenges I faced in creating this artwork was getting the shape of my head correctly. I re-did it over ten times so I think it is acceptable. The biggest challenges were drawing the facial features.
4. This piece represents me because it shows how happy I am. It was taken during summer on the way to a country concert. I love summer and the warm weather. You can see how happy it makes me.
5. I used lines throughout my entire drawing. I used them to create my hair and eyelashes. I used proportion to make sure that everything was aligned with one another.
6. I liked doing this project. I love using my creativity within  a project!
7. Overall, I think my final artwork came out ok...... I think my next step would have been to shade certain areas.

Art Curator Project: Reflection Journal

I was at first overwhelmed with this assignment. Doing an analysis on artwork can be stressful sometimes because I am never sure if I am doing it to its full potential. But then I excited about this project because I love to be creative. Creating power points has always been a joy to me. Picking the theme was the easiest. I chose "Nature's True Beauty" because I have an interest in nature and the environment. I think that most people don't respect the true beauty of Earth. I chose specific paintings that reflect the vulnerability of the environment. Choosing the images were easy. Charles Burchfield is an inspiration to me so I used a lot of his watercolor paintings. The hardest part about this assignment was the art criticism. I tried not to judge the artworks, but it was challenging to me because I wanted to incorporate my emotion into the criticism.

Art Curator Video Blog!

1. In “The Lowdown on Lowbrow” I learned that west coast pop art is sometimes referred to as “lowbrow.” This is a movement that is energetic and edgy. This dynamic West Coast movement is changing the way we appreciate art and making it accessible and enjoyable to everyone. This often involves art that people do not know how to categorize. In “Displaying Modern Art,” I learned about Henry Tate and the new way to display art. This can be done by the specific exhibit, artist, or by theme. In “An Acquiring Mind,” I learned about Philippe de Montebello and the Metropolitan Museum of Art. Cultural institution. 2. All three of these videos relate to the art curator exhibition project because they discuss different themes of art. They describe how art is displayed in the gallery and how in creating the gallery, the design of it must be planned ahead of time to showcase the artwork. 3. I liked the films. They helped me grasp a better understanding of this art curator exhibition project.
